Naps....I need one!

So, Brianna had been difficult to get down for a nap the last several weeks and I was getting sick of constantly going in her room to find her playing and not sleeping. Eventually she would fall asleep but then it was late and waking her up was difficult. Bedtime was ridiculous and she'd often lay in bed awake until 11:30 or later. So, I experimented this week and didn't have her take a nap during the day!!! I was hoping she wouldn't stop taking naps until after the baby comes because I am at the point where I need some rest and I know I'll need some after being up all night with a newborn. But, it sure is nice having her in bed by 7:30 and having a few hours in the evening to unwind!

We both seem to get kind of cranky near the 6:00 hour when I'm absolutely worn out and needing a break....but so far it's been better than the constant nap and bed time battle we've been having in the past!
Brianna just seems to being growing up too fast these days! And now that she's not napping she seems so much older to me! Especially in this pic!

This is another top that I made for her. I made a matching little dress for Miranda and can't wait for her to wear it! Speaking of Miranda, I'll be 39 weeks on Wednesday! Where has the time gone?

She is big!! We have the same problem with Hannah... if she takes a nap at all, even if it's early, she is up for a couple extra hours and then wakes up earlier too! But if she doesn't have a nap, bedtime is so much better.

We have quiet time in our house for 45 minutes or an hour. I have to watch Hannah or she might fall asleep, but Kathryn has been doing it for awhile and it's great "down" time for me!

I don't say this about many other people's kids... but Brianna is adorable! She looks like she's got so much personality. And I bet she's a blast to have around. And her mom dresses her all adorable and stuff, just making her even cuter. ;)

once they can sense the nap is for you and not them its over and play time starts!

I think I started enjoying my kids so much more when the nap struggle was over. When you give up the whole idea then it seems that you can deal with it and I agree when 7:30 rolls around it is all worth it. Just put a movie on and snooze on the couch around 3:30. That helps break up the day and she could use a little lazy time by then. When the baby comes you will need that movie time.

Unfortunately my daughter won't watch movies unless it's a 20 min Dora one and then she talks to me the entire time and tells me not to sleep!

Can't wait to see Bri soon. She's looking older these days but still so cute. Whew--she's not growing out of it. I remember telling Mom that naps were really "boring" when I was little. It's probably because I never fell asleep. :)

Bri does look big! Definitely ready to be a big sister! It's a sad day when naps are over. Callie rarely takes one, but is up all night if she does. We have "quiet time" when she goes to her room and plays quietly and looks at books. Cleaning up a mess afterwards is definitely worth an hour to myself!

Erin, You won't believe how "old" and "big" Brianna will seem to you when you bring Miranda home from the hospital.

All good wishes!
