Happy? New Year

What a strange New Year this has been. Brianna has an ear infection but is getting better after several days on an antibiotic. Miranda however has a double ear infection that left her extrememly unhappy yesterday and screaming bloody murder from 2 am to 7 am this morning. I missed the festivities as I stayed home with the sick baby, but Chad and Brianna were able to go and play games at a friend's house.

This morning we got a call that Chad's grandma, "Grams," had passed away. We just spent Christmas with her in Memphis this last week. When we first got there she was doing great! In fact this picture was taken last week! Esther Langstraat was a sweet sweet woman. I have really enjoyed getting to know her these last 5 1/2 years since Chad and I have been married. My grandparents had all passed on several years before meeting Chad so I loved having Grandparents again! "Grams" was a special lady, but she has been ready to go for awhile especially since her husband died almost 2 years ago. This picture was taken Monday night. The kids were tired and ready for bed, but I wanted a picture with Grams before we left and I'm sure glad I got one. Unfortunately she had caught the upper respiratory infection that had been going around and her body just quit. I can't help but feel responsible as my girls may have been the reason she got sick. But Grams quality of life wasn't great and she had been wanting this for awhile. So, though we will miss Grams dearly, we are happy she is able to be reunited with her husband today! I am so grateful that I was able to spend so much time with Grams on this vacation and help her to get ready for the day. I won't ever forget those moments while caring for her! We will miss you Grams!

I'm so When my grandma passed away I felt she was glad to be returning to her husband, too.
