Good News: We should hopefully be seeing a lot more of this:
*Good News: We had our GI doctor's appointment today and I loved the doctor! She's awesome and seems to know exactly what to do to find out what's wrong with Miranda (and Brianna). I wish I had a good doctor when Bri was a baby because we could've prevented a lot of her problems. Bri has recently developed eczema in the last few months which I thought might be due to allergies and the doctor confirmed that today.
*Bad News: The doctor looked at the dirty diapers I brought and found mucous (as I thought) and blood (which wasn't visible to the eye). Looks like Miranda does have some food allergies despite the blood test we had done that came back negative (they aren't always correct, especially with little ones).
*Good News: We can probably still figure out what she's allergic to by having me go on an elimination diet.
*Bad News: My diet includes: No milk/casein/whey, wheat/gluten, eggs, soy, nuts, citrus, berries. So what can I eat you ask? The doctor mentioned rice, potatoes, vegetables, meat and a few fruits (some of which I'm allergic to so they are eliminated as well!) I have 4 pages of a list of things that I CANNOT eat, why don't they ever provide you with a good list of things you CAN eat? It's difficult coming up with things you CAN eat when you're so limited and not used to the diet. I would also have loved a list of meal ideas or recipes too. I know there is a bunch of info on gluten free/ casein free (GFCF) out there but lots of those things inlcude the other things I can't eat! I would love any ideas or info that people might have to help me out!!!
Bri also needs to go on a complete dairy free/soy free diet to begin with. Only problem is those are some of the only foods I can get her to eat! Bri never drinks regular milk, but she does have A LOT of cheese, soy yogurt, cottage cheese, sour cream, butter, etc. She loves eggos, cereal, cereal bars, etc, etc (all things that include dairy). She is NOT going to like her new diet!
*Good News: I should lose some weight on this diet!
*Bad News: I haven't lost a single pound since I started the dairy/casein free diet 5 weeks ago! I also could lose my milk supply if I do lose the weight and lose it too fast!
*Good News: In 6 weeks we have a follow up appointment and I may be able to introduce one of the foods back into my diet and see how she does!
*Bad News: That's 6 WEEKS away!
*Good News: I'm becoming very knowledgeable when it comes to foods and what is in them! I also have a good friend, Heather, that went shopping with me tonight who has done a gluten free diet for a long time. It was nice to have her with me so I didn't have to figure everything it out on my own.
*Bad News: It takes a REALLY long time to grocery shop when you have to read every label and check it with your 4 pages of things you can't eat, half of which are words you're not familiar with! Did you realize that citrus acid and soy are in almost everything? It makes it VERY difficult to find foods that are ok!
*Good news: I love my girls and I'm willing to take on yet another strict diet to try and help them!
*Bad news: I can't promise that I won't be grumpy and irritable while doing it!

Yikes, Carson has a lot of food allergies as well. He is allergic to Eggs, Wheat, Nuts and some fruit. I am still a little skeptical about the milk since he is 14 months and throws up twice a day. Food allergies can be pretty overwhelming.
Anyhow, I have tried a few gluten free pastas and have found that we like the Schar brand best. It comes in a yellow package and is made from both rice and corn. Here are a couple websites you might find helpful as well: http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/ and http://www.foodallergy.org/
Good Luck!
Ah, Erin--I'm so sorry. Glad you may be sorting this out, but sorry it has to be this way. Its such a pain. I don't have time right now, but I have a few links that may help you. if I don't get back to you in the next couple days, email me or something.
So, she does look pretty cute but her ears are naked! Does she have to wait for Christmas so her dad and I can keep the tradition up? Have fun with the diet.
Wow, that sounds like a lot of work! I don't have too much experience with that but here's a blog on crock pot recipes that has a lot of gluten-free ones: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/
I know it's not exactly what you need but maybe you can find blogs that offer recipes for whatyou need.
Man. I cannot imagine how hard that probably is. Gavin is a picky eater but that is just by choice not because he has to be.
Good Luck! I would be going crazy.
Wow. I hope these diets help your girls. You are such a great mom to do this for them. It sounds like a lot of work. You are a great example of a mother's sacrifice and love. You are an inspiration to me. Good luck!
That really is good news and bad news. A lot of GCFC kids are also soy and egg free too so maybe linking up with some of those moms could help. Not sure about the citrus part. If you post of the thoughtfulhouse or GFGF kids yahoo groups I'm sure some parents will have recipes that hopefully you and the girls can have. Good Luck!
Yikes! It would take all day to go shopping. I can't get a menu made without any of the restrictions. You are amazing.
My cousin just showed me a book today called "The Feel Good Cookbook" by Jonell West Frances. It looks interesting - you can order it online.
I wish I had some tips...Good LUCK!! I hope you figure out what the problem is.
