I flew alone with the girls on Wednesday to Utah to visit my family. Both girls were doing great at the airport while we waited for our plane to take off...5 hours later our plane still hadn't left due to low clouds in San Francisco. Brianna was starting to get fussy because she was "late to Papa's house!" and she wanted to get on that plane. I finally was reassigned another flight but it didn't leave for 5 more hours! Luckily my friend Heather who had dropped us off that morning was able to come back and get us! She's the best!!! A few hours later we came back to the airport to find that my next flight was delayed too!!! An hour after scheduled departure we finally took off. This time though both girls were fussy and sick of the airport. They were both good for the first part of the flight but towards the end I had Miranda screaming at the top of her lungs and Brianna started crying too because it was late and she was cranky! I got lots of lovely stares from the people around us! On top of all of this I was not feeling well at all! Turns out I have a sinus infection and so does Brianna. I started getting motion sickness since the plane was jerking around and just about threw up while this whole screaming epidsode was happening! Lovely! I have never been so grateful to land! We didn't arrive at my parent's house until after 11 and we were exhausted!! I'm not looking forward to our scheduled 4 hour lay over in San Francisco on our return flight! Yuck!
Since we've been at my parents house I have not felt well at all. I haven't been able to sleep due to some severe sinus pain. I feel like my face is trying to give birth!!! I've been on antibiotics for a few days and I still don't feel any better! Brianna seems to be getting better though.
Miranda on the other hand has been acting pretty colicky since we got here. I haven't been able to put her down at all in 3 days. Any time I try to hand her off to someone else (whether she's asleep or awake) she starts screaming. The poor thing has phenominal amounts of gas that have made her really uncomfortable. She also has been constipated and then ends up with diarrhea when she finally gets some relief! This makes for a really fussy, uncomfortable, not able to stay asleep baby! This is exactly how Bri's tummy was! I'm trying all sorts of different things to help relieve her tummy without much success. I just wish I knew why my girls have such bad stomachs. I'm going to try a 2 week non dairy trial to see if it helps, but I don't usually have much dairy since I'm lactose intolerant. Maybe the cheese, butter, sour cream, etc is the culprit though!? I'm hoping to find some reason (that I can fix) that is causing all of her discomfort and pain! She can be a really happy, sweet baby when she doesn't hurt...but it hasn't lasted for more than 5-10 minutes the last few days before she starts really hurting again! Add all of my sinus pain and I've been one exhausted mama! Thank heavens Bri has been great and playing well on her own or with my family. I've never been so grateful to see my husband walking up the stairs after arriving in town near midnight while I rocked a fussy baby while every muscle and joint in my body was hurting as well as my face, teeth and ears from the sinus pain! He took her for the first few hours of the night so I could get some much needed rest! Maybe I'll finally get a little bit of rest so I can get better!

Oh, that's so miserable..... I hope you all are feeling better soon!
I did go off dairy completely with my second baby and it made a big difference. Normally, I never drink milk-- I only put a little bit on my cereal, but cutting out yogurt, sour cream, cheese, etc. did make a huge difference for Violet. My doctor suggested that every few weeks I try a little dairy and see if she was still affected by it. He said 75% of babies grow out of it by 2 months, 95% by three months. I just put soy milk on my cereal for a few months, and gradually introduced processed milk products, like cheese, in the third month.
Anyway, that's probably more than you wanted to know! I couldn't find much on the internet about this topic, but this is what worked for me. The doctor also said keeping a food diary can help a lot-- if milk isn't the problem, then try cutting out something else-- like chocolate, sweets, certain veggies, etc. for a week--this is how long it takes for it to get out of your system and the baby's system-- and see if it makes a difference.
My sister-in-law had to do this too-- it's such a pain, but if it makes a happy baby, it's worth it!
Anyway! Good luck!
I'm so sorry. :-( That sounds miserable.
Sorry to hear you haven't been able to enjoy the trip yet. I hope it all turns around soon.
Oh I'm sorry you've been so sick and that Miranda is having a tough time too! Cutting out dairy has been HARD for me, but it is making a huge difference... but our problem is more spit up than tummy aches... or so we think.
