Happy 2nd Birthday Brianna!

Brianna turned 2 yesterday and if you ask her how old she is she'll quickly say "Two, Two!" and hold her fingers up! We had a delightful day! We let her have this kitchen right when she woke up! I think she played with it almost the entire day! She loves it! I found it on craigslist and my mother-in-law helped us purchase it! Thanks Grandma!!! She especially loves the phone with it and "called" several different family members. I think she cooked, talked on the phone and played with this new baby from my mom the entire day!

Bri in the apron I made to go with her kitchen!
This baby coos, cries and moves and Brianna loves it! It's the main reason I couldn't her to go to down for a nap until 3:15 though because she wanted to take care of it! Here she is kissing and talking to the baby.
I spent several different days working on this cake and I like it, but didn't love it. I think I was most disappointed with the fondant I made. It tastes a lot better than other fondant because it's made from marshmallows, (Brianna has been snacking on it all week and that's mostly all she ate with her cake) but it wasn't the best consistency and kept stretching and ripping. Last years cake looked better, this cake tasted better. This is only my 2nd fondant cake though, so I'm happy with it! I made everything on the cake with the fondant except the Dora which is the candle! Bri loved it! Brianna is obsessed with Dora and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which is why incorporated those into the theme!Bri's reaction when she saw the cake! I think she likes it! :)Getting a big breath to blow out the candle! Proud of herself!Eating the fondant flowers! Brianna is starting to say her prayers at night with help! Last night I was helping her and after I said "I'm thankful for ....she yelled CAKE!" I was so happy to hear how much she liked it! It was definitely worth the effort! But, after all this sugar she didn't go to bed until almost 11:00!!!

I had planned on making some miniature cupcakes and a large cake shaped as one until Brianna became obsessed with Dora and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in the last few weeks. But, I had been wanting to make the mini cupcakes for so long, so we did that too! They were a hit! I got the recipe and idea from Bakerella on this site: http://bakerella.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-05-18T15%3A32%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=20 The recipe and pics are on the post from April 14th. Mine didn't turn out as cute, I'll do better next time! They are rich, but oh so yummy and moist!
I made Brianna and her doll some matching tutus and apparently she and her dad are going to wear them as hats from now on! Brianna's 2 favorite people in the world! Marianne and Nick Hudson!

The Parkers. Isn't their girl, Malayla cute? She always winks when she smiles for a picture! :)

The HartsThank you to those that came for over for Bri's birthday! It wasn't a real party, just a time to share some cake, and LOTS of it with friends! We're grateful to those that could share that time with us and we missed those that couldn't make it!

I have so much to share about Brianna, especially at this milestone of 2! But, I'll wait until the next post after I get her stats at the doctor and you can recover from all of these pictures !!!

Wow, I can't believe she's already two! What a fun day she had.

PS. I'm already looking into getting a kitchen for Emma's second birthday. I suppoose it's a pretty standard gift for little girls. :)

Happy Birthday, Bri-Bri! Erin, the cake is SO cute! I haven't ventured into the world of fondant. I know what you mean about loving to spend the time on the cake. People think I'm crazy. As a matter of fact, I had to put a heating pad on my hand last night because it's so sore! So worth it though. The little cupcakes were adorable also. Love you guys!

It looks like you all had fun, I'm sorry we couldn't make it, but if we don't get a second car soon, I fear I will go insane. Being on house arrest virtually every other day is not fun! :) The cake is amazing. You are beyond domestic woman--I am impressed!!! Happy Birthday Bri!

What? That "john" post is actually from me. Somehow, my dad got signed on to my computer even though he hasn't used it for a long time and I use it everyday. Weird. So you can delete that post, here it is from Kimberly, not John. :) It looks like you all had fun, I'm sorry we couldn't make it, but if we don't get a second car soon, I fear I will go insane. Being on house arrest virtually every other day is not fun! :) The cake is amazing. You are beyond domestic woman--I am impressed!!! Happy Birthday Bri!

Happy Birthday, Bri!!!

I love the apron and the cake turned out great! I love marshmellow fondant for the taste (I've never worked with any other type, so if the others are easier, maybe I should try that--it does drive me a bit crazy and I can't make a lot of stuff work.)
