Bay Bridge

I had a great opportunity to go down to the Bay Bridge today.
Some History:

  • The San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge, is a multi-structure toll bridge that spans San Francisco Bay and links the California cities of Oakland and San Francisco.
  • It carries approximately 270,000 vehicles per day.
  • The Bay Bridge opened for traffic on November 12, 1936, six months before the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • The series of mind-boggling construction and engineering feats to retrofit and replace the entire eight-mile San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge represent the largest – and most challenging – public works effort in California history.
  • This project will most likely go on for 10 more years and cost in excess of $2 billion!

Just to give a little perspective of how high this is. Look how small the construction worker looks!

I LOVE MY JOB!!!!
