I figure since this is the second time I've been tagged...I better actually do it! I'm so bad at following through on things like this. Probably because I'm not very creative when it comes to writing, so I don't feel that I have anything interesting to say. I'm supposed to write 7 interesting, funny, silly or random things about myself! I hope you find my list at least somewhat interesting!
1. As I started to think about the 7 things... I came up with almost 7 fears! Yep, I am a scaredy cat big time! I hate being home alone at night! So, we bought a dog when Chad was working nights. But, if he started barking at something outside, it made me feel worse. (Most of the time I felt safer with him though.) I HATE spiders! We have a lot of brown recluses in our house. Yuck and scary! I have found 5 brown recluses in my bed since we moved in! I check the bed every night, I shake my shoes out, I check everywhere all of the time! I'm even afraid of the ones that are already dead on our sticky traps! The movie "Arachnaphobia" ruined my life as I knew it. That seems to be what started all of these fears! It made me check shower heads, lamp shades, slippers, toilet seats, etc. Awful movie! But, hey I have been biten by 3 spiders and gone to the hospital! I have good reason to be afraid! Oh, and when they've been in the bed, they're always on my side!!!! I'm also afraid of snakes, but luckily they haven't been spotted in my house. I hate walking around in the dark because I can't see what's around me (and I'm mostly scared that there's a spider on the floor or wall next to me! Dumb, I know, but often when I turn a light on I will see one. I use the light on my cell phone at night to walk around the house! I hate dark water because I can't see what's in there with me. I can't handle scary movies or shows. I relive them for the next several weeks and cannot function! And, as I get older, I don't get braver, I become much much more of a wuss! I've teased that I need to see a therapist about this and now that I reviewed what I just wrote that may not be a bad idea! I sound crazy!
2. I was born in a van similar to the one pictured above! Of course, this is always what I say when you're supposed to say something interesting about yourself, so you probably all know the story...which makes it less interesting! But, here goes. I am the 7th of 9 kids so my mom put off going to the hospital so she could cut oranges for my brother's soccer game. Unfortunately she didn't realize that by your 7th child they just come walking out! They got in the van and didn't even make it down the street before my mother said she heard my crying! She said it felt like I came out on a slip and slide! Makes labor sound easy! Maybe by 7 it is, but I don't plan on finding out for myself! :) I was born on Madonna Drive on top of the jumper cables and some balogne sandwiches...maybe that's why I'm a little bit of a lunatic, huh?! They almost named me Madonna, VANessa or CARla! I'm glad they went with "Erin."
3. I want to be a gourmet cook! Not in a restaurant, but just at home! I love making food for people and hosting little parties so I can serve food. I find life to be much more enjoyable with a yummy dish in front of me! But, gourmet cooking is expensive and time consuming, so I don't do it as often as I would like! I love to have fondue parties, crepe parties, etc. We use to have "24" parties where a group of friends would come over to watch the show 24 and we would eat lots of yummy stuff. I looked forward to the food more than the show, even though I love the show!
4. I am a perfectionist! I like things to be "just right" and nothing ever seems to be. So, I get frustrated with myself when things don't turn out how I imagined them to be. That must be why I stress about every Young Women's lesson, cleaning the house, or learning a new skill! Nothing will ever be perfect, but oh how I want it to be!
5. I am a "Hobbyist!" I love to learn new things and I have a list about a mile long of things I want to be able to do! Especially before I got married I would get really interested in something and spend tons of time learning how to do whatever it was. That included playing the guitar, photography, art, book binding, scrapbooking, card making, training for a marathon (until I got injured) and I almost bought a violin and flute. Luckily I got married and things slowed down, or I would have a bunch of unused instruments in my house! Many of my hobbies become short lived because once things get hard, I often quit! Or, I find something else that looks more interesting!
6. I love staying at home and I don't want to go back to work! Most people here in the south think I'm crazy! I have so much fun playing with my daughter! I used to love my job as an Early Interventionst playing with babies and toddlers! Now, my payment is being able to stay home and play with and care for my child 24/7! I love sitting in a clean home! I would often turn away social opportunities so I could clean and bask in the cleanliness alone! Whenever I am sick I want to clean the house before I rest...otherwise I can't rest! A clean home equals a happy me! (You would think my house would look more orderly and clean than it probably does...but I'm still working on that!)
7. I have some serious auditory issues! More than anything in the world I can't stand hearing people eat! I used to get sent to my room during dinner time because I would say something to my siblings. But to me, hearing someone eat is like hearing fingernails on the chalk board over and over an over again. After awhile the tension builds and I just want to scream for them to stop! I can not read or focus if there are little noises happening in the house. Little noises are totally amplified to me. I have to have complete silence to read. The testing center at BYU was my nightmare because there was constant zipping and unzipping of bags, bouncing pencils or fingers on desks, gum chewing, page turning, etc. and I couldn't concentrate at all!
I sound like a lunatic now, don't I? Well, here are teh 7 things I probably wish I never shared! Now it's my turn to tag 7 people that have to share 7 things about themselves! Chad, Danielle, Michelle H., my Mom, Lindsay, Texas, and Emily.
