Miranda Panda turned 1 years old today! We of course had a Panda themed party. We celebrated yesterday with some friends that we consider family (since we don't have family around!)
Here's her cake! She is allergic to this one, so it was just for the guests! The Panda is made with Rice Krispy treats and covered with fondant that I made with marshmallows and powdered sugar. It didn't quite turn out how I imagined, but it's done! Here's a quick look at the Panda shirt I made for her birthday! She loved her "cake" that was free of all her allergens. It had a very different texture to both the cake and the frosting!
See the texture of that frosting! It was like working with glue and was very difficult to spread on a cupcake free of gluten and eggs that would normally help hold it together! She seemed to like it though! We bought this zebra toy from a friend at a garage sale! Can you tell she liked it? Unfortunately she isn't tall enough to touch the bottom yet!
After the cake and some presents we played games with the adults while Panda slept and the other kids played around the house! We had a lot of fun and are grateful to the people who helped share this special day with us! We were sad we couldn't share it with family though!
Today was Panda's actual birthday and she had a rough one! She had a difficult time napping today because of tummy troubles, which made her fussy. She dropped her glass bottle on the tile which shattered and immediately put several small cuts in her feet and legs, and then we attempted a "photoshoot" for her 1st birthday which turned out to be a collosal mess. It was late, she was super tired, I was losing light and patience and when I finally got everything set up and sat her on the chair, she fell off head first before anyone could catch her. So, she cut her forhead, has a large bump and a "rug burn" like mark and screamed for nearly a half hour! The cake I had made for the photoshoot had accidently been cut up by one of the kids at the party, I was late getting balloons and Panda was not cooperative. We'll see when I get around to it....with her beat up forhead and all, it might be awhile. And I had been planning of a fun photoshoot for the last month or so. So disappointing. I did try to do it on my own on Saturday and got some shots that I'll share later, but it wasn't quite what I was going for! Since this post is already too long, I'll share more about Panda later! Her one year appointment is next week so I'll have updates then, but I can already tell you that she's going to be small in weight and height and have a big head! I had to measure her the other day and her head was an inch bigger than her waist! :) So, does she have an unusually large head, a tiny tummy or both?!?!
Happy Birthday to our little Panda who brings so much joy into our home! We are so grateful to have her in our family!
